SIPP Pension schemes
A Self Invested Personal Pension ‘SIPP’ works in much the same way as a normal Personal Pension. The contributions to a SIPP are the same as a personal pension and carry back may also be used.

A SIPP enjoys the same tax relief and tax advantages as any other approved pension arrangement. The only difference is that contributions are invested in accordance with the members specific instructions into certain allowable investments. A few examples of the acceptable investments are:

Our highly experienced pension department is ready to advise you on self invested personal pensions
· Commercial Property in or outside the UK (whether leasehold or freehold).
· Those quoted on ‘recognised’ stock exchanges, including the Alternative Investment Market (AIM)
· Fixed interest securities
· Equities
· Debenture Stock & Loan Stock
· Warrants (Equity)
· Permanent Interest Bearing Share
· Through any futures or options exchange anywhere in the world
· Any unit trust or investment trust resident within the UK and authorised for the purpose of the Financial Services Act.

Please bear in mind that these are only a few examples on the types on investment that can be made within a SIP scheme, there are many other investment options available.

Prior to any investment instructions being received and executed, your contributions are normally held in a Trustee bank account where your funds usually earn a competitive rate of interest.

Although you are allowed to invest in many different types of investments through a SIPP you will need to ensure that your provider is able to cater for your investment needs. Different providers will deal in certain areas depending on their expertise and experience.

There are also many other aspects to consider when choosing a SIPP provider.
A few examples of these are:

Charges applicable to your investment
Experience of the provider in the investment types you are considering
Service levels provided
Choice of investment options

There are many things you need to consider when you are considering setting up a SIPP as not all SIPP providers or schemes are the same.
